Months. It’d been months.

A seed of distrust and worry had wormed its way into Elise’s heart. They’d started to grow resentful of it all - still now, Elise was continually bleeding, being strung up like a pig chosen for harvest.

Elise had continually bothered anyone willing to listen - Finley, Damien, Augustine, Ashley, anyone. But there was no answers. They made a snarling sound under their breath, frustrated and angry.

They started to think that they were trying to get rid of them. What did they do to them? Elise paced around in their small CERCNA-assigned apartment, and had been doing so for the better part of a hour, when their phone rang.

It was Ashley. Elise picked up.

“Hello? This is Elise.”

“Oh, uh. The experiment… it’s over.”

“Huh?”

“Yeah, uh, it didn’t work out, unfortunately.” Her voice held a sorrowful tone to it, personally, but Elise hardly cares. For all they wanted, they wanted the damn egg dead forever.

“So… I can go home…?”
